[News] Musical ‘Catch Me If You Can’ ranks first in ticket sales
The musical Catch Me If You Can ranks first in ticket sales and proved its high popularity.
The musical started selling tickets on February 7 on an online ticket site. The musical ranked first in ticket sales after only 30 minutes of its release and beat out other musicals, including, Notre Dame De Paris, Mamma Mia, Das Musical Elisabeth, Gwanghwamun Love Song, and Doctor Zhivago.
The musical is based on the movie Catch Me If You Can, which was directed by director Steven Spielberg and starred actors Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hanks. The musical was nominated in four categories at the Tony Awards and received the Best Actor prize and the Best Choreography prize at Drama Desk Awards in 2011.
A spokesperson for M Musical Company, the production company for the musical, says, “Fans from all over the world are making inquiries about the musical. SNSD’s Sunny also decided to appear in the musical and helped sell out the tickets.”
Um Ki Joon, Super Junior’s Kyu Hyun, Park Kwang Hyun, Kim Jung Hoon, SHINee’s Key, Choi Woo Ri, Dana, and SNSD’s Sunny will appear in the musical. The musical will open to the public on March 28 through June 10.
